Samsung, LG look to impress at CeBIT fair

HANOVER, Germany - The CeBIT technology fair began in the chilly city of Hanover on Thursday with more than 6,200 electronics makers showcasing their latest devices they hope will lead the next stage of info-tech evolution.

The annual electronics trade show marks a return of optimism for the telecom industry as the speeding deployment of third-generation mobile telephony around the world is prompting more customers to trade their old handsets for advanced multimedia devices.
Industry watchers expect the world's third-generation subscribers to increase to 70 million by the end of the year from the current 20 million. The technology is growing faster than the second and 2.5 generation networks did at the same point of evolution as operators in North America and Europe continue to expand their coverage.

And with the increasing penetration of mobile phones in the developing world, the overall number of mobile customers reached 1.3 billion at the end of last year. More than 650 million handsets were sold in 2004, about 3.5 times the number of personal computers sold last year, making mobile phones the largest selling electronics item worldwide by a significant margin.
Samsung Electronics Co., the world's third-largest mobile-phone maker, introduced 410 of their latest electronics products at CeBIT with a clear emphasis on their lineup of mobile phones and digital televisions. The most notable item was the SGH-i300 mobile phone, which is integrated with a digital stereo player that supports 3-gigabytes of storage, enough to store about 1,000 songs copied at 128 kbps.

Users could easily create and search playlists through a scroll-wheel controller and move music the files to their personal computers through "plug & play" capability. The company hopes that the new phone, also featuring a 1.3-megapixel camera and Windows Mobile wireless Internet access, will gather interest from the world's increasing MP3 player segment and compete against Apple Computer Inc.'s iPod music player.

"Music playing functionality among mobile phones is becoming important as more operators in the United States and Europe are considering music as the killer application for third-generation telephony along with data downloading. The 3-gigabyte model follows our release of the 1.5-gigabyte model six months ago as we continue to lead the industry's advancements in music phones," said Jo Shin-hyung of Samsung Electronics' public relations team.
Samsung's other products revealed as CeBIT included a phone with a 7-megapixel camera, mobile television handsets and a phone that supports high-speed downlink packet access which delivers a download speed of up to 14.4 mbps, compared to current third-generation WCDMA phones that peak at 2 mbps.

LG Electronics Ltd., the world's fastest growing mobile-phone maker, seems more focused on simplicity and being market-responsive rather than continuing its technology race with Samsung Electronics. LG Electronics' most notable product was the third-generation WCDMA phone LG-KF1000 that supports Bluetooth technology, allowing the handset to be used as a fixed-line phone in buildings, and push-to-talk capabilities. The company believes the phone can generate significant interest by allowing people cheaper voice services, with consumers becoming more cost-conscious of their mobile charges with multimedia data services taking off.
LG Electronics' other third-generation phone, the LG-U8210, which is integrated with a digital stereo player, video-on-demand functionality and multimedia messaging, is built more for high-end customers. The company also introduced phones with mobile television capability, both for land-based and satellite transmission, and other devices that provide instant messaging services and video games.
The company said it is also planning to commercialize their HSDPA phone, unveiled last week after a collaborative effort with Canadian telecom company Nortel, by the end of the year.
LG Electronics, the world's fifth-largest mobile-phone maker with a 6.5 percent market share last year, hopes to ship 70 million phones by the end of this year to become the No. 4 maker.

Anime Examples

These are a few examples I found, while looking at anime for inspiration... very dramatic foreground... the rest is just a backdrop... we are going for something different, because the background must contain a lot of information... Posted by Hello

protagonist in the foreground and bird's eye view in the back... Posted by Hello

another example Posted by Hello

also interesting is how to use a lot of light with little color...  Posted by Hello

two frames from spirited away... Posted by Hello

shots that have a steady frame, normally have something breaking the balance towards the edge.. often an action...  Posted by Hello

I couldn't find many city images yet, but I've started to remember their composition techniques...which has been useful today... Posted by Hello

Starting to model

once i had part of the model... (it still needs the station and other things) Posted by Hello

I started to take the model and look at how the image could be framed differently..  Posted by Hello

and how to hide and show different things... Posted by Hello

I looked at what things can give an idea of context to the bang spaces... Posted by Hello

also one way can be to show images in series... Posted by Hello
